Brooklyn Ballet 2013 Season: In 4D

By Brooklyn Ballet (other events)

7 Dates Through Mar 10, 2013

See world-class dance in downtown Brooklyn!

Brooklyn Ballet's 2013 season, In 4D, premiers a new dance/digital collaboration, Tracing Back, by choreographer, Lynn Parkerson, and hacker collective, NYCResistor.

"Tracing Back reveals an aspect of choreography an audience does not usually see:  the floor pathways of the dancers as they travel in real time. I've been thinking about this idea for years and recently stumbled upon a world of techno/digital artists who are passionate about creating something new, with ballet as a departure point." Lynn Parkerson

The season also features a new collaboration with London-based choreographer, Julia K. Gleich to the music of J.S. Bach and contemporary composer V. Barkauskas. This new work deconstructs the movements of a hip hop dancer juxtaposed with those of a ballet dancer.

And come and see the world premier of Lynn Parkerson's Spiders, Cooks and Mood Swings, a mixed movement mash-up to Stravinsky's Italian Suite.

Additional collaborators include violinist Gil Morgenstern, popper Mike "Supreme" Fields, and costume designers ymx by Yellowman.
